5. COVID-19(2020-20 )
This Pandemic originated from Wuhan China and has spread to almost round the world causing over 520K deaths as of now.
This is caused due to SARS CoV-2 novel coronavirus and is transmitted through cough and contact. This deadly virus has put brakes on fast moving modern era. As of mow has infected more than 10 million people. The significance of this that it has not only caused losses in terms of deaths but also in terms of economic slow down as a consequence millions of people became jobless. Some of the worst hit countries includes USA, Brazil, Russia, India, and Europe.
4. Antonine Plague(165 AD)
Also know as the Plague Of Galen was an ancient pandemic that was brought to Roman Empire by troops who were returning from Mesopotamia in 165 AD. Scholars believe that the cause of the pandemic was either smallpox or measles but the true cause is still uknown. The pandemic claimed the lives of Asia minor, Egypt, Greece, Italy and killed over 5 million people.
3. Spanish Flu(1918-1920)
Spanish Flu was one the worst pandemic of Human History in which over 500 million people were infected and upto 50 million people have died. The cause of the pandemic was influenza by H1N1 influenza A virus. Started in Feb 1918 and ended at April 1920 and almost one third of world population of that time was infected. The real difference of this pandemic was it also started to kill healthy adults in addition to elderly and weakened patients.
2. Plague of Justinian(541-549)
It was the beginning of the first bubonic plague pandemic that left its marks of terror by killing half the population of Europe. The cause of it was bacterium Yersinia pestis. It severely impacted the Sasanian Empire, Roman Empire and Mediterranian Basin, and most severely the city of Constantinople. It has caused a deaths of over 25-100 million. The pandemic was so sever that has killed almost 40% of Constantinople population.
1.The Black Death(1347-1351)
This is the deadliest plague that has recorded highest mortality in human history. This was caused by bacterium Yersinia pestis and is bubonic plague. It was originated from Asia and went to Europe through Silk Road to Cremia from where it went through fleas l that are present on black rats that travelled through merchandise ships to Europe and Africa causing over 75-200 million deaths.
